Mage Talent Guide•
Arbitrator (Arcane Mage):
Revitialized in 2.0, the arcane mage gained a significant amount of PvE viability due to arcane missle's buff. This, along with already strong PvP talents, could make the arcane mage have it's comeback. The title build forgoes the 41-point talent to pickup Pyroblast instead for the old school dreaded PoM->AP->Pyro combo. A possible Slow build can be
seen here, but it's a little early to tell if missing the burst damage of PoM->Pyro will be overcome by it.
•
Pyromancer (Fire Mage):
The fire tree has been the raw damage tree for quite some time and it appears to be no different in 2.0 which makes it the ideal PvE setup. Most mages level with a fire build and many raiders find that after MC/BWL a heavy fire build is a top-DPS choice. The only thing lacking for a fire mage is in the PvP area due to limitied burst damage options and low survivability.
•
Frost Maiden/Magus (Ice Mage):
The frost tree is about control and survivability which makes it excellent for PvP and a solid PvE choice. The 41-point Water Elemental is an almost must-have for any heavy frost mage since it adds even more otpions for the mage. The only downside to a frost mage is moderate sustained and burst damage which makes raiding somewhat middle-pack for frost mages compaired to the raw DPS of a fire mage or even the now heavy-hitting arcane tree.
