Rumours have been flying that the limbless French wonder's latest adventure will be exclusive to Nintendo Wii until May next year - but that's not the case, according to a Ubi spokesperson, who told us that it "Rayman Raving Rabbids will not be exclusive to the Wii until May next year".

Apparently, the game "will be released on old and new formats before the end of 2006, with dates to be announced soon". So, that’s cleared that up then

DS IGN disse:
Nintendo of Japan has September filled up with Pokemon. October has Winning Eleven. Now what about November? Earlier this week, it was revealed that the company is looking to make Jump Ultimate Stars the big title for that month.

The sequel to Jump Allstars will be released for the Japanese DS on November 23. The title will carry the standard DS price of 4800 yen.

Nintendo is powering up the game with new characters. Players can look forward to new characters from Naruto, Black Cat, Tennis no Oujisama and more! The original cast should be back as well, making this the true ultimate crossover for Jump comic fanatics.

Eventos Wii na America, Japão e Europa.

September 1, 2006 - Nintendo seems to have set aside mid-September as worldwide Wii day. According to Japan's Kabushiki Shimbun newspaper, the company will be showing off the Wii to the Japanese press at an event scheduled to be held on 9/14.

Attendees will be able to sample the system first hand, the paper reports. The paper also expects pricing and release information to be announced at the event, something that would be inline with previous Nintendo statements.

A Japanese event held on the 14th coincides perfectly with similar events Nintendo has planned for the 15th in Europe and the 14th in America. Nintendo is expected to show region-specific products at each event. We eagerly anticipate our first look at Wiimote-based mahjong.

This event will mark the second time the Japanese press has gotten hands on time with the Wii. Following E3, Nintendo gathered select members of the press for a demo event using its E3 content. This time around, the games will likely be closer to completion.

The Nintendo event will be held one week before the Tokyo Game Show, where Sony and Microsoft will show off their own next generation offerings. Nintendo does not attend TGS, instead opting for its own product showings.

Mais informações de Batallion Wars 2

The game revolves around the same concept and plot as the original, but takes players on a trip back in time to explore the story from the past, before returning to the present. A typical plotline starts with Vlad, from the original, setting out to seek the ultimate weapon to restore his region to power.
Players can play as the various different races throughout the game, with varied vehicles, troops and surroundings to use and explore.
The Wii hardware has allowed the developer to create larger, more expansive worlds, special effects and extra details that weren’t present in the original, "expect to see great water in the game!"

Attacks take place in the air, ground and seas:
Naval battles have been added for some beach/sea battles.
Frigates – Fast, easy to manoeuvre and come packed with armaments. Can locate submerged crafts, like submarines.
Submarines – Stealth tactics when deep underwater, but very venerable when surfaced.
Dreadnoughts – A large craft packed full of armour and weapons. Powerful but slow.

The game will feature over 20 missions for the single-player mode, and 15/16 multiplayer maps. ONM has praised the current multiplayer build, “it really shines in that department”.
There are currently 3 multiplayer modes for co-op battles, standard versus and arcade styled battles.
The game has Wi-Fi capabilities that are “very much supported”, for those looking to take on the world. As with the standard multiplayer there are currently 3 modes to work with:
Co-Op: Go head on with a friend to defeat an enemy, with different scenarios and players controlling different types of units.
Assault: One player defends, the other attacks for an all out… assault!
Skirmish: Complete strategy battles – capturing bases, placement etc.

GC 2006 wasn't exactly the huge Wii show that some had expected, but it did have some cool game announcements. That said, we're just getting started. Wii fans, this is going to be a huge month for you. I think the September 14 event -- now just two weeks away -- will be bigger than E3 for Wii lovers, and the coverage/news isn't likely to stop flowing after that. If we've been in something of a drought, rest assured that the storm is coming.

A bit of info from REHorror…

Voice actress Tara Platt is to do Jill Valentine in the upcoming RE:Wii game. She confirmed to us that the game will feature zombies (or at the least, zombie-like enemies) and plant creatures, as well as a wide array of weaponry. The fact that Ms. Platt was aware of the weapons in the game infers that she is voicing a playable character and is not just doing a cameo. Jill being the main character increases the likelihood of seeing Carlos or Barry turn up as well.

There is also a bit of unconfirmed info coming from Gamespot’s community…

Read this from a games magazine in HK today - its called Resident Evil : Umbrella Corp Chronicles and fills in the story on Umbrella before and leading to RE4. Gameplay is a mix between using the Wiimote as a light gun and RE4 style elements e.g. action buttons pressing X for a dramatic scene. It features scenarios from RE1 (museum), RE2 (police station), RE3 (raccoon city), BHCV and RE4 (village) and ties in the gaps especially RECV and RE4. Characters include Chris/Claire, Leon / Ada, Jill / Carlos, Rebecca, Hunk and Wesker. There are two gameplay modes - scenario mode and arcade mode. Proper announcement to be made by Capcom at TGS.

GI: It’s assumed that if you do console development it’ll be on the most powerful systems – Xbox 360 and PS3. What do you think of Wii? Yerli: I love the Wii (laughs).

When I was at E3 and playtested it, I loved it. I thought about how we could do games for this platform and what kind of games they would be, and what kind of shooters we could do on it, and work it to our own needs here. Yes we’ve had some thoughts, but Crysis is not part of the plan at this stage, but that may change. We are a company that takes one step at a time, and once we achieve the goal that we want to achieve then we take the next step and see what the next platform we go with next. We did not decide if we’ll do PS3 at all. We have all of the development kits, and we have research going on. We have the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3, we work as researchers and test them, essentially. We have parts of these systems running because there is going to be console development in our company, but if it’s going to be Crysis or not is a step ahead of us. Because if we go to fast we sacrifice quality on PC, and I want to make sure it’s the best PC shooter we can do. With our company our goal is to make it the best shooter of all time. Once we achieve that, our achievement is we do our best and that’s it. Whether we do it our not is to be determined. Once we are there, then we’ll take the next step.

GI: Crytek is known to have made stunningly beautiful games, and while you can sort of experience them on lesser hardware, if you have the quad-SLI setup, and three gigs of RAM and a super fast processor it’s going to look incredible. With looking at what the Wii has under the hood, does that discourage you as a developer?

Yerli: No, not at all, because I think we can make great visuals by different means. Look at the PS2. Some PS2 games still look fabulous. And there are games that are just stylized perfectly. You can achieve anything with every hardware. I think it’s a matter of artistic direction, how you use the limitations. That ultimately is the experience you want to give. The experiences in Crysis drives the art direction. The experience of the frozen environments, the experience of interactivity, then we decide how we want it to come across visually. What do we need to do, how far do we need to go? With the Nintendo Wii the approach will be similar. We have this great controller, we have the limited power of the console, How we can make a confined space or large outdoor level, whatever, how can we make the best out of the controller that’s giving the experience that we want to give? Completely fluid interactivity – how can we do that? I think it would be a completely different approach, and it deserves to be as well. So, if it our decision to make Crysis for Wii, if and I don’t want to be quoted saying we’ll do it. But if – if we would do it, it would have to be a completely optimal version, but it would be great. (laughs)

Wii IGN disse:
Ubisoft has thrust the mallet of denial in the direction of internet rumours suggesting that its upcoming party-a-thon, Rayman Raving Rabbids, is set to be a Wii exclusive title until May 2007.

According to the publisher, Michel Ancel's latest twisted off-spring is still planned to launch alongside Nintendo's latest console. However, it's also confirmed that Rayman Raving Rabbids is scheduled "for old and next-gen platforms for release in 2006".

Raving Rabbids has previously been announced for DS, GBA, PC, PS2, Wii and Xbox 360. Although no further information has yet been revealed regarding a release date for non-Wii versions of the game (of course, technically, we don't know the release date of that version either, but blame Nintendo there), Ubisoft is expected to offer up further details, including how the game will work minus the Wii wand, shortly.

In case you've not been following Rayman's latest escapades, IGN has a full, unexpurgated hands-on of Raving Rabbids Wii gleaned through a frenzy of RSI-inducing wrist flailing at this year's Leipzig Games Convention. It's good, if you were wondering.

Informações da Wii:
Some interesting Wii tidbits have surfaced from the second issue of UK magazine NGamer (previously NGC) on the Wii-mote, sensor bar and saving games. Thanks to GoNintendo for the tip.

* Sensor bar is “50% smaller, little bigger than a couple of pencils glued together.”
* Wii-mote’s 6kb of internal memory “personalises your remote - potentially storing things like sensitivity, y-axis settings for FPSs, and even scores and saves.”

* Wii-mote runs on two AA batteries, offering around 60 hours of gameplay. That amount’s reduced to half (around 30 hours) if using the sensor bar though.
* [Talking about SD cards] “these tiny cards can be used to store game saves and virtual console games, but Digital Right Management features mean you can’t play your (virtual) games on someone else’s Wii.”

Super Paper Mario na Wii
Hey Matt. It doesn't seem like Super Paper Mario for the GCN is coming out on October 9th (given that it hasn't been released in Japan yet, and everyone but Nintendo has the game listed as Q4 '06 or Q1 '07). I know you vaguely hinted at games for another console being moved onto Wii instead. So is there any chance Nintendo is going to move Super Paper Mario onto Wii? Or was that just a one-time deal with Zelda?

Matt responds: Hmm. How should I write this? Have to be vague, you know? Let me just say that yes, Paper Mario will be headed to Wii and not GameCube. Now read between the lines, damn you! Wait. That was a terrible hint! All right, that's it for today. Time to beat Bozon.

Castlevania Wii?
Nintendo's European site printed an interview with Iga from the German Games Convention. Now, Iga has some news for those interested in seeing Castlevania come to the Wii. When asked if he'd given further thought to the idea Iga replied, "We still can't think about anything other than this DS version because we are so busy, but of course we would like to think of something interesting and pleasant for Wii. I have some ideas for Castlevania for Wii."

Famitsu rumours

- Next week there will be announcements of new Sega game(s), a new Kojima title and the Wii Gundam game.
- Virtual Console games are supposedly increasing in number and Yuji Naka's new game is on the way too.

- A game that's been a massive hit on consoles and handhelds is getting an original entry on the PC, and being made by a Western dev.
- A racing game being released at the start of 2007 will have a sequel announced at a game show at the end of this month in Europe (Forza 3 at X06!?)
- Parappa the Rapper is coming out for PSP

Novos jogos Sega... NiGHTS please...
