The Canon G10 has grown just a little in size, with a new body that features a double-decker right-hand control dial. Internally, the Canon G10 boosts resolution to 14.7 megapixels, and upgrades the image processor to a DIGIC 4 type. At the same time the new 5x zoom loses a little reach, but gains a useful 28mm wide angle while retaining the optical image stabilization. Autofocus system upgrades include AF tracking and improved face detection capability, and there's now a Face Detection self timer. The Canon PowerShot G10's 3.0" LCD display now offers a higher-than-average 461,000 dots of resolution.
ISO sensitivity is unchanged, ranging from 100 to 1,600 equivalents (ISO 3,200 possible in a special scene mode). Shutter speeds range from 1/4000 to 15 seconds, and there are three metering modes, twenty two exposure modes (including scene modes). Flash range increases to 15' (4.6 m) max. at Auto ISO. The G10 also offers a new Intelligent Contrast Correction function.
