The real winner of the week, however, might be Tales of Vesperia (pictured), the Xbox 360 RPG that Famitsu's reviewers almost universally termed the best game in the series to date. "From the story to the battles, the tempo is excellent," said one. "One of the most outstanding games in the series -- this one takes it to new heights!" "The new features work very well with the original system; there's a lot of volume and a lot of incentive to explore it," another added. The game received 35/40 and a Platinum award, making it the highest-rated game of the week. Good job, Namco Bandai -- it'll be interesting to see how the game holds up once the US version comes out in a few weeks.
(...) Special edition comes with a 10th anniversary soundtrack CD packed with some of the series’ musical highlights from past and present. The CD contains 25 tracks, with 14 songs from Tales of Vesperia, two from Tales of Phantasia, two from Tales of Destiny, four from Tales of Symphonia and three from Tales of the Abyss. The Tales of Vesperia special edition will carry a suggested retail price of $69.99 and will be available in limited quantities through select retailers.
Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360 will be available in stores on August 26.
Check Hell, because we think it's official frozen over. That right there was the line at the Akihabara Yodobashi Camera earlier this morning for Xbox 360 exclusive Tales of Vesperia. It was over a hundred people — small potatoes for, say, a Poké launch, but shocking for an Xbox 360 title in Japan. The game and an Xbox 360 went on sale, and there was a stage event with the game's creative producer Yoshito Higuchi and producer Tsutomu Gouda, telling fans how that they created a beautiful looking Tales for the Xbox 360. Joked Gouda:
