Nvidia to launch 8700

Games Convention 07: 65 nanometre mainstream card

Nvidia is about to have its first working samples of the card that might end up be called Geforce 8700. The new mainstream chip should be the one we mentioned before codenamed D8M but it can be highly likely that Nvidia has another codename for it, something like G8x.
The new chip aims to be launched together with G92 in the Novemberish time and this will secure Nvidia’s performance leadership in this market segment.

If the yields are good Nvidia will have a killer chip as the thermal dissipation of this improved version of G84 core is going to be much better and it will let Nvidia to set the higher clocks.

What else can we say other that it feels good to be Nvidia.

Nvidia prepares the GeForce 8600 GS

While everyone's attention is focused on the still unclear G92 and G98 cards, Nvidia is quietly working on a new card, already included in the recently released ForceWare 163.69. The GeForce 8600 GS is a card powered by the 80nm G84 chips and is set to have 32 Stream Processors just like its bigger brothers, the 8600 GT and GTS.

The 8600 GS will feature lower clocks than those of the 8600 GT (540 MHz core, 1400 MHz memory) and will probably be released by the end of the month.
