Congrats! That is a major announcement!
A few quick questions -
1) is the PS3 GPU also being used (currently or in the future) for calculation or is it just for the graphics?
2) is the PS3 client ready to go as of the expected launch date of the PS3 (currently Novemeber 2006)?
3) For those that will get a PS3, how would the client be obtained?
4) Does this void any warranties from Sony?
5) Is there a concern about overheating?
6) Would we be able to specify what team and/or username we want to use?
7) Would the PS3 have special PS3 only projects, or would it just be Gromac projects?
8) How does a PS3 compare to the benchmark machine for projects a PS3 would work on?
9) How will the client work with games?
10) Will there be controls on cpu usage and when to run? Any other special/new controls (outside of the graphics)?
11) How much was Sony involved with this project?
12) Is Sony going to help promote this client in some way?
And as you also had updated the graphics FAQ, I had a few questions there too!
a) Will the GPU client work on any X1000 series GPUs (e.g. X1600XT)?
b) Is there any plan to enable curent NVIDIA GPUs and older ATI GPUs or are they just too slow or incomplete to bother?
c) Any comments on the next gen NVIDIA GPUs?
d) The X1900XT is about how many times faster than the X1800XT?
e) With a X1900XT, how much faster can a Gromac be completed with the benchmark machine?
f) Will the CPU be fully loaded (assume 100% cpu use set) when using GPU folding?
g) Will crossfire be supported or will only 1 board run?
h) Will the GPU run at full clock speed (i.e. speed when gaming), or at desktop clock speed (i.e. speed when working with desktop apps)?
i) Will there be controls similar to cpu % use for gpu % use? Any other controls?
j) What OSes will be supported initially for this?
Looks like this will be an exciting few months!
edit: Perhaps some of these questions can be used in a FAQ?
