When Havok was acquired by Intel earlier AMD was left with yet another potential loosing battle and one solution to the situation may be Ageia. The main competitor of Havok has taken a different ant still not successful road of making both software and hardware, the latter in the form of the PhysX add-in board.
As confirmed by Richard Huddy, AMD's head of developer relations, the company has been thinking of buying Ageia but only for the right price. Ageia hasn't picked up speed until now and it may not be valued too much but even with the $620 million it got for 8.1% of its shares, AMD may not be acquiring it. Wiat and see.
