ATI: No delay in 80nm production
Edward Chou, marketing director of ATI Technologies Asia-Pacific division, responded to earlier reports that its 80-nanometer (80nm) production has been delayed by saying that ATI has succeeded in completing trial production of its 80nm graphics chips. Chou estimates that ATI will start switching its complete graphics processing unit (GPU ) lineup to an 80nm manufacturing process at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) from September.

ATI is looking to adopt a 65nm production node next year, in an attempt to carry out better cost efficiency, according to Chou.

Gecude has recently released their product roadmap that outlines new ATi 80nm based products. The new 80nm RV560 and RV570 are still designed with 12 Pixel Shader Processor, similar to RV530 Crossfire except they have build-in Compositing Engine. According to Gecude’s roadmap, it seems RV560/RV570 cannot provide a better performance than Radeon X1800XT. Yet we have got another comparison from ATi, the story was a total difference. The final specification of RV560/RV570 perhaps is a mystery still its release in this summer.

On the other hand, ATi will spilt RV515 (Radeon X1300 family) into 128Bit RV516 (TSMC) and 64Bit RV505CE (UMC) versions. They share the same design of RV515 (4PS/2VS), differed on the improvement of 80nm process. As nVidia G73 has 64Bit memory controller only, RV505CE is then become a comparable product by its lower cost.

Analysts reduce Nvidia sell target price
Fudo's to blame

JUST A DAY after we wrote that Nvidia is falling behind ATI, share-price tipsters reduced Nvidia's sell target from $20 to $18.5.

Our original story is here and if we didn't know better we would say that the financial community follows our work.

Analysts at Deutsche Bank informed the world that they want to maintain their sell rating on Nvidia but will reduce the sell target from $20 to $18.5.

It looks like a reaction to the fact that Crossfire works with Conroe on Intel boards while Nvidia's SLI simply won't.

The analysts think that Intel and ATI might be a better bet and that this duo might pinch some significant market share. We're increasingly convinced that Nvidia is running out of choices other than to open up its SLI to Intel.

The Deutsche bank comment is here. µ

NVIDIA "sell," target price reduced
NEW YORK, June 21 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Deutsche Bank maintain their "sell" rating on NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.NAS). The target price has been reduced from $20 to $18.5.

In a research note published yesterday, the analysts mention that the redesigning of Conroe's gaming systems is expected to present significant market share expansion opportunities for ATI Technologies. NVIDIA's chipset business is expected to witness competitive challenges from ATI Technologies and Intel going forward, the analysts add.

First 80nm chips from ATI expected October
ATI actually wanted to release the 80nm parts in Q3, but they should now be available in October. The first two variants, the RV570 and the RV560 feature twelve pipelines but there will be some clock differences. The RV570 will run somewhere between 600-650MHz, use a 8 layer PCB with up to 512MB, while the RV560 will run at 450MHz using a 6 layer PCB.

e agora esta bomba :

ATI dual Gemini board confirmed

Based on two RV570XT chips

The card is codenamed Gemini and supports the PCIe interface only. It is built on 8-layer PCB and supports both ATX and BTX formats. The card will have two RV570XT chips clocked at a saucy 650MHz core and 1500MHz memory.

It uses 256-bit GDDR 3 in 8MX32 136 BGA 900MHz package. If we read the spec correctly the memory on this card should overclock even higher.

The card supports two Dual, Dual Link DVI and a VIVO. It is in development stage and should be available shortly after the summer, we reckon by November 2006.

parece k vamos ter quad crossfire card based on the RV570 ???
