The Canon SX10's controls have been totally overhauled, and inside sits a larger 1/2.3" ten megapixel CCD image sensor and a DIGIC 4 image processor that allows for servo AF tracking. The PowerShot SX10's lens is now a whopping 20x stabilized zoom that sports a 28mm wide angle and 560mm telephoto. The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS's LCD display still has a 2.5" diagonal, but resolution increases slightly to 230,000 dots. ISO sensitivity in the Canon SX10 ranges from 80 to 1,600 equivalent (ISO 3,200 max in a special scene mode).
The Canon SX10 IS opts for H.264 MOV movies with sound, and stores data on Secure Digital cards. The Canon SX10 offers both NTSC / PAL video and USB 2.0 High Speed computer connectivity, and draws power from four AA batteries. The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS will ship in the USA from October 2008, priced at US$400 or thereabouts.
