How do I use LogMeIn if I have a firewall on my PC? LogMeIn is compatible with all known firewalls and broadband routers. It's simple to use and, in most cases, no configuration is needed.

When you install LogMeIn, some personal firewalls will display a message asking permission for LogMeIn to communicate over the Internet. This is an integral part of LogMeIn and must be allowed in order for the service to work. If you miss this step, you may have to manually configure the firewall installed on the machine where LogMeIn is installed.

To do so, please find an exception or allowed list in your firewall program and add logmein.exe and logmeinsystray.exe to the list (both can be located in the LogMeIn installation folder, normally under C:\Program Files).

Also, please grant access to localhost (127.0.0.1) and open port 2002 locally in any software firewalls to ensure proper operation. For hardware firewalls, you must allow TCP port 443 and 80 traffic.

When using Norton Internet Security 2005, please do the following:

From the NIS icon in the systray, select Open Norton Internet Security, then select Personal Firewall, then Configure. First, select the "Programs" tab, then select "Add," then navigate to C:/Program Files/LogMeIn, and double click the LogMeIn.exe icon. Repeat these steps for the LogMeInSystray.exe icon. Next, select the Advanced tab, and then General. Please search for "Block access to secure sites" in the list, click on it once, select Modify, choose Permit, and then select OK. Go back to the “Advanced” tab screen and choose “Trojan Horse.” Scroll down until you see “Block TransScout.” Select remove, and when prompted, click yes twice.

After you have configured the appropriate software, you should right click on the LogMeIn icon in the systray and select "Disable LogMeIn." Once it is disabled, right click again and select "Enable LogMeIn."
