Kingdom Hearts: Not Necessarily on PS3

Square Enix doesn't want to support simply one platform.
By Patrick Klepek, 09/26/2006

Last night, Square Enix riled gamers up with a bizarre quote from a Wall Street Journal article on the looming competition between Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii this fall. As the publication examined each of the platform's expected strengths, they turned a focus to the RPG powerhouse, who didn't exactly respond with the resounding exclusivity support we saw last generation.
"We don't want PlayStation 3 to be the overwhelming loser, so we want to support them," says Michihiro Sasaki, senior VP of Square Enix. "But we don't want them to be the overwhelming winner either, so we can't support them too much."

Er, what? Most came away from this quote convinced Square Enix was readying massive support for Wii, which, while possible, probably isn't the underlying message here. Rather, Square Enix likely realizes PS3 doesn't have ensured dominance this generation, and rather than pool all their support behind Sony right from the start, they're going to let the market play itself out for a while -- case in point, Square Enix so heavily supporting Nintendo DS over PSP.

Earlier in the story, however, the journalists make mention of where various Square Enix franchises are landing, specifically noting the high-end Final Fantasy sequels will find themselves on PlayStation 3, but more importantly, they have yet to decide who will receive the next Kingdom Hearts.

We can't imagine Xbox 360 being on the publisher's radar, so Wii appears the only logical option, unless they take the route expected from Kingdom Hearts at the start: multiplatform.

At this point, it's simply too early to know what Square Enix's plans are. 1UP's fired off a request for follow-up comment on the Kingdom Hearts mention, and we'll update if we hear more.

A wii parece o bibi! Anda a abrir o olho a muita gente!!!! :002:

Square Enix to sell two of it's franchises?

09.01.07 - Unconfirmed: Square Enix is allegedly planning to sell two of its series. States wunderlampe.de claiming close industry circles as source. It's unclear what which series, but it can only be assumed: should the message from Wunderlampe.de be correct, perhaps it could concern the Mana/Seiken Densetsu or Kingdom Hearts, which could go to Disney and in the future being developed with FALL LINE studios. FALL LINE was created to 07.11.06 in USA and belongs to the Disney company. It wants to concentrate on the developing games plays for Wii, Nintendo DS and Game Boy.

This scenario is also supported by a rumor from Japan, which recently made the rounds; it was speculated that future Kingdom Hearts games, would only appear on NINTENDO platforms - like before, is also however only pure speculation. Square Enix did not confirm this message and did not communicate the sale of two franchises officially

- Next Kingdom Hearts game will be a spin-off that will appear on a "hearty console".
Fonte: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153012

"To tell the story about the Keyblade War we need the capacity of hi-spec hardware and we need to accumulate all of our knowledge on this hardware."

-This "new project" is not Kingdom Hearts 3, rather it is "outside" work. (Meaning, it is more then likely a sidestory?)
-There is still a lot left to tell about Sora's Story, but Nomura wants to draw more towards other characters with this game. This could mean Sora has a lesser role in this game.
-There will be a focus on "Birth By Sleep", as well as Mickey and what was happening while he was in the world of darkness, as well as his keyblade. Nomura also wants to focus on Roxas the most. There are apparently a lot of interesting things left about him.
-This game will be a little different from the Kingdom Hearts Series, with slightly different gameplay as well. As for the system, he is considering portable systems. (Options: PSP, NDS, and Mobile Phones).
