ASUS P5B Deluxe with C.G.I. Technology Enhances Multiple-GPU Systems on P965 Systems

C.G.I found exclusively in ASUS P965 motherboards
CrossFire performance optimization offered by C.G.I occurs in Direct Media Interface (DMI) between the P965 Northbridge, which carries one x16 PCI Express slot (x16 PCI Express Lanes) , and ICH8R Southbridge, where another x16 PCI Express slot (x4 PCI Express Lanes) resides. C.G.I streamlines data transfer between the Northbridge and Southbridge, delivering enhanced performance during Crossfire dual-GPU mode.
Simple upgrade
Users of the two ASUS motherboards can upgrade to C.G.I by dowlonding the latest BIOS on the ASUS support webiste, www.support.asus.com, with the friendly LiveUpdate utility for BIOS reflash. C.G.I is automatically activated when CrossFire graphics cards are installed.

Agora também já tenho uma motherboard com Crossfire.
Nem precisei de comprar chipsets ATI ou Intel i975X.

Se bem que isto de ser *proprietário* é algo estranho.
A ATI já lançou um driver que supostamente funciona em todas as motherboards P965 que tenham dois slots PCI-Express x16 físicos (sendo que um tem 16 lanes e outro tem 4).

Aínda antes disso até a MSI já tinha anunciado algo semelhante, de novo com a tónica no design *proprietário*.

Com ou sem bridge SLI ?
E esses chipsets, para usar SLI, só se for com drivers "hackados" já velhos, não ?

Pois, tal como esperado.
Nessa board o modo SLI (não oficial) "força" os slots a estar no modo x4-x4, em vez de x16-x4 como no modo Crossfire oficial.

E aínda não consegui perceber que drivers é que ele usou, ou se tinha bridge SLI ou não (assumo que tinha).
Está tudo em chinês.

É sempre bom saber que uma board ganha features, aínda que para mim tenha pouco ou nenhum interesse directo (comprei-a pelo suporte/OC dado às CPU's).
Se quisesse SLI ou Crossfire comprava uma com esse suporte desde o início, a diferença de preço nem é assim tão grande. (o meu modelo é o P5B Deluxe WiFi-AP)

Sim, mas agora é oficial.
Nesse artigo eles usaram uma BIOS que aínda não era pública.
