Sony has released an official media management suite for the PlayStation Portable, which will allow users to "maximize the power" of their PSP systems and "experience the full entertainment capabilities" of the portable console.

The PSP Media Manager is available through Sony's official website and is available in two forms.

First, a downloadable version is listed on the site for USD $19.95 and is available immediately.

Sony also plans to make a boxed version available beginning December 31, 2005, although elsewhere on the site a date of November 22 is listed. The package will include a PSP Media Manager application CD, a 6-foot USB cable, sample content, and 5 free song downloads from the Sony Connect™ music store. The package is expected to set you back USD $29.95, but pre-ordering the package shaves $5 off that price.

The Media Manager includes the following "top 5" features:

· Two-paned view lets you see media on your PC and PSP system at the same time
· Automatic file format conversion — PSP Media Manager does the work for you
· CD extraction — transfer your CDs to your PSP system
· Podcast and video blog support — download and encode feeds for PSP playback
· Customizable compression options for music, movies, and images

A complete list of features can be found here http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/showproduct.asp?PID=995&FeatureID=8399.
