Que dizer senão, “It [also] prints money!”
"We believe that Nintendo has diverted a significant portion of its available supply to Europe since April 2007, as the weakening dollar has made US sales less profitable for the company… We expect the supply situation will begin to improve over the next several months. We expect a surge in supply in the US for Wii Fit’s May 21 launch here, and believe we could see as many as 900,000 Wii units show up at retail this month (May)." - Michael Pachter
Fonte: http://gamefunk.net/?p=71The Wii has pulled within about half a million total hardware units sold of the 360 in America. At the current rates, the Wii is outselling the 360 by an average of 100K total units a week, from both NPD and VGChartz averages. If these averages hold, then the Wii will outsell the 360 by mid June. However, chances are, the swap will occur even before that.

This imminent fall from the top could not come at a worse time, either. Just last week, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced at Playstation Day that the PS3 had sold more then 5 million consoles in Europe and that they finally succeeded at outselling the 360 in total hardware units in Europe.

Fonte: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=18706(...)To no surprise, Nintendo dominated another month; it even outsold the combined sum of the other two home consoles.
PS3 and the 360 are both on track to sell more units than last year, and I agree that both systems could achieve positive year-over-year sales without a price cut in 2008. Unfortunately, it is simply too hard to ignore the 800-pound Donkey Kong in the room.
The Wii’s success and market share is so massive, it is hard for me to consider that there is anything the PS3 or the 360 could do to pilfer some potential Wii buyers over to their side. It is almost as if both console manufacturers have given up and already conceded unit-based victory to the Wii.
Fonte: http://kotaku.com/5010227/nintendo-wii-gamers-are-hardcore-gamers- Average Wii gamer is a hardcore gamer, Nintendo of America's Cammie Dunaway told the Electronic Gaming Summit today.
- Seventy-nine percent of Wii gamers are male, most older than 18 with an income of $50,000 or more and more than half game for five or more hours a week
- While the people who buy Wii tend to be pretty typical for gaming, the other household members who play Wii aren't.
- 45 percent of the other household members who play Wii are female, with 38 percent 25 or older.
- Sixty-five of these "other" gamers play at least two hours a week, while only 32 percent play five or more a week.
- The real break-through, the real magic of the Wii console is that it brought new consumers into the game," she said. "We in the industry have a choice to make, do we want to appeal to the few or to the masses? Do we want to sell to more people or sell more and more and more to less people? Do we want to be inclusive or do we want to be expansive? At Nintendo we definitely believe in the power of the expanded audience. We hope everyone will join us in showing everyone just how much fun video games can be.

Fonte: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/japan-psp-still-on-top-as-wii-reaches-6-million/?biz=1Wii sold 41,572 units, what was enough to push Nintendo's popular console over the six million sold mark in its native country.
With the release of the latest figures from VGChartz, Wii has officially passed 360 in the Americas in lifetime sales as of the week ending May 24th, 2008, despite the 360 having an extra year on the market. Wii has reached 11.7M sales in America in its 79th week available; whereas, 360 reached 11.5M in American sales in its 131st week. PS3 is currently at 4.9M lifetime sales in the Americas after it's 80th week on the market. (For reference, the "America" region tracked by VGChartz includes all of North, Central, and South America.)
This week saw a boost in Wii sales due to Nintendo releasing additional supply to support the launch of Wii Fit. To date, Wii remains largely sold out in the US. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime had gone on record in February as saying the Wii would pass the 360 in the US by June based on the strength of recently released hits Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii in addition to Wii Fit (not to mention increased supply).
In Europe, Wii passed 360 last December on strong holiday sales. In Japan, of course, Wii passed 360's lifetime sales in its first week. Worldwide, Wii surpassed 360 sales in late August to become the current market leader. Wii has currently sold 26.7M units to date worldwide, while 360 has 18.8M and PS3 has 13.0M units sold.
Below is a graph showing the cumulative sales of each of the three systems since the launch of the Wii in November 2006.
