Or so it reckons, with its just-announced, multi-format first-person shooter, Shoot to Kill: Colombian Crackdown
16:01 It looks as though the id Software's, Epic's and Valve Software's of the world are in for a tough time as Codemasters laces up its big boot of doom and prepares to give the first-person shooter an "arse kicking" with Shoot to Kill.
Appearing on PS2, Xbox, GameCube, PC and the kitchen sink, Shoot to Kill: Colombian Crackdown will apparently feature a gripping plot and intense, refined gameplay. Nothing more is currently known about the title, but Codemasters, which is promising many unique features that will be new to the first-person shooter genre, says that it will be releasing more information at a later date.
"We're looking to bring a new aspect to the genre through the use of revolutionary AI and physics systems, essentially doing for the action shooter market what the new TOCA Race Driver and Colin McRae Rally 3 games are very successfully doing for motor sport gaming," says Codemasters Gavin Raeburn, who is heading up the Shoot to Kill project.
Shoot to Kill: Colombian Crackdown is currently slated for a late 2003 release.
