Sony said on Thursday it would postpone the launch of the Home virtual community service for its PlayStation 3 game console to early next year, the latest setback in its video game battle with Microsoft and Nintendo. The 3D Home online service (http://www.news.com/Sony+brings+it+Home+for+the+PS3/2100-1043_3-6165180.html), in which players can create and "own" characters and content, was originally scheduled for launch this autumn.
Sony Computer Entertainment, the video game unit of Sony, said it was postponing the launch to improve product quality.
"This is going to be a worldwide service that needs to offer a wide range of functions required in Japan, in the U.S., in Europe and in Asia," Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai said in a keynote speech at the Tokyo Game Show 2007. "We aim to launch this as something that can meet expectations of people all over the world."

PlayStation Home gets pushed back from October to unspecified time in spring

While the Sony-oriented keynote at the Tokyo Game Show held mostly positive words with the announcement of the DualShock 3 and new PSP Remote Play features, one piece of disappointment for those PS3 gamers wanting a different online experience is that PlayStation Home will be delayed until spring 2008.

Hirai apologized to the crowd for the delay and said the reason for the added wait is the makers of Home wanted more time to further develop the user interface.

The delay may not be a big surprise, as an anonymous report (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/816/816186p1.html) from a PlayStation Home beta tester indicated that several features were behind schedule. According to the report, published late August, none of the features promised during E3 were ready for the beta.

PlayStation Home was first unveiled (http://www.dailytech.com/PlayStation+Home+Revealed+in+Images+Videos/article6389.htm) at the Games Developer Conference during March. The service is currently operating in a closed beta and was originally slated for launch this October (http://www.dailytech.com/PlayStation+Home+Rollout+in+Three+Phases+Launch+in +October/article6446.htm).

Under development by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, PlayStation Home is thought to be Sony’s answer to Microsoft's Xbox Live service. While the current PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store offer gamers friend lists, a place to download demos and ways to purchase additional downloadable content, PlayStation Home will add community features such content sharing and game trophies.

Fiquei sem palavras. Isto estragou-me a vida social toda. Já não tenho namorada, saí de casa dos meus pais, vendi a PS3 e vou agora a caminho do departamento da Sony na América para fazer uma queixa... :neutral:

Talking about Home, the executive said as far as he was concerned, the release delay meant nothing had changed. He said, "We will still be opening in late November/early December for general beta testing. So, the commercial start of Home will be pushed out later, but you will still get the experience this year."

Viste-me chateado? Os fãs de PS3 devem ser masoquistas.....são adiamentos atrás de adiamentos mas em vez de mostrarem o seu desagrado, "brincam" com os non-sony. Realmente são os clientes ideais.

mas ainda tamos em beta testing e eles podem ter descoberto um grande bug...

como se pode defender com tanto custo uma marca que cada vez se enterra mais? isto daria um interessante case study para marketing, psicologia, whatever...

Mais um adiamento no meio de tantos. Desde que haja uma Beta Open os possuidores da PS3 ainda se podem entreter até que chegue o completo. Mas é sempre mau...

N levem a mal os adiamentos, por alguma boa razão tem de ser.
Eu pessoalmente não espero grande coisa do Home.

Mais outro adiamento, fio á espera de pelo menos um beta

Enquanto a Sony vai adiando os seus trunfos, os consumidores vão adiando a compra da PS3 e eventualmente, acabam por escolher outra consola.

Pior para a Sony e para os "early adopters" da PS3.
