Philosophy
Our wish is to create a game that gives the player a unique experience that feels like a fresh breath of air from current games in the market. We are striving for innovation in gameplay and story. The feeling and mood of the game is poetic and serene, unfolding like a beautiful piece of music.
Games overview
The game's world view is that everything has its purpose. Our destiny has been sealed. Everything plays a part in forming the bigger picture that is the cycle of life. Even the smallest pollen grain is part of Nature's being and has its purpose. The game is about them. They have dreams that inform them of the role they have to play in the bigger picture to fulfil their destiny.
What is the game?
Pollen Sonata is an adventure-simulation game. Gameplay involves flying from flower to flower in a micro world by adjusting a pollen's form in response to the wind conditions. Folding and changing the form lets the pollen navigate in both the air, by floating and gliding, and on the flowers by rolling and jumping.
Where does the game take place?
The game world is made up of the micro worlds inhabitated by the pollens. Flower beds and green parks are just the beginning.
What do I control?
The player controls a small pollen to fly from flower to flower. He or she has to gather other pollens and command them to fly. Whatever form your pollen has taken, affects the form and actions of the other pollens as well.

Entrevista:
playWii.de: Hello, could you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us something about your position and your work at the “Pollen Sonata“ project?
Lena Marguc: Hi, my name is Lena Marguc. I’m studying at the Danish design-school. My role at the project Pollen Sonata was and still is to be the Visual Designer.
playWii.de: How can we imagine the developing team? Would you still regard yourself as a hobby project at the moment? And how did it come that you got together?
Lena Marguc: First I have to say that Pollen Sonata arose as a high-school project. Det Danske Akademi for Digital Interaktiv Underholdning (DADIU) is quite a new course for game development in Denmark (www.dadiu.dk). Summarized, it was about producing a game within a month’ time. We all applied for several “jobs” there, and the DADIU put us together into a team.
playWii.de: How emerged the idea to develop Pollen Sonata and probably move it to the Wii?
Lena Marguc: The idea to produce a pollen-game came from our game designer. It was clear to us in the early stage that this game is dedicated for the Wii. There are many possibilities to use the controller as pollen wings.
playWii.de: After the publication of the first material, the video spread around the world on some of the worlds most important pages. Did you expect that amount of resonance?
Lena Marguc: We never reckoned that our video would spread that fast. The attention we got is just unbelievable.
playWii.de: Did there many reactions come in and how is the feedback after the trailer?
Lena Marguc: The reactions were stronger and more positive than we expected it. We got in touch with many interesting people and companies and we’re pleased with all reactions to our demo and our trailer.
playWii.de: The gameplay of Pollen Sonata in material seen so far gives a very extraordinary impression. Could you give us some more details about the processes in the game?
Lena Marguc: I can tell you, that the game is split in several fragments – levels – which will create the story of the game together.
playWii.de: The material we saw so far developed in a very short time span, according to your website. Nevertheless it already shows off some gameplay mechanics. From all we know: to what extent is this comparable to the final product? And what ideas are left for the future of Pollen Sonata, what else can we expect?
Lena Marguc: You can expect much more. Different types of pollen with different abilities. For example, different kinds of pollen fly in a different manner so that the player has a more open hand and that he can choose which pollen he wants to control. This is of course improving your flying experience followed by a bigger, more versatile world where more can be explored. The world itself will be less static and can offer resistance as well as support the player.
playWii.de: It seems that the game sets its emphasis on a relaxed, uncomplicated course without strict goals and missions. Games like that are quite trendy at the time, especially when looking at the “casual-gamer-hype”. Are you trying to follow this direction and thus try to get a target audience as big as possible?
Lena Marguc: As we already said it is a very experimental project. The game-designer originally planned a unique gameplay, with assimilation of the pollen’s shape to the wind conditions. But with reasons of time (1 month), it was not possible. That makes the game less significant. Thus, we had to puzzle out, how the flow-effect is achieved the best way. After all, it looked more like a “casual game”. The game could be enjoyable as an occasional game as well as a normal game. Anyway, we formulate missions and goals, even though it isn’t that obvious in the video.
playWii.de: Looking at the visuals, it seems that you decided against a realistic look and rather chose an appearance more artistic and a little abstract. What was the ulterior motive behind this decision?
Lena Marguc: It was important to us that the game’s universe appears authentic, poetical and dreamy at the same time. On this year’s Nordic Game Conference, Barabara Lippe from Avaloop said: “It does not have to look realistic to feel real”.
playWii.de: Is there a background story envisaged, and if it is though, can you tell us something about it?
Lena Marguc: It will be poetic and beautiful, everything else still is a secret.
playWii.de: In the moment, you’re searching for a publisher. How big are the chances to effectively find Pollen Sonata on shelves in the near future? Or do you consider other ways of distributions such as the Shop Channel? With “Impossible Mission” from System 3 there already seems to be a title taking this way.
Lena Marguc: It’s difficult to say anything. We get many requests. But there are no concrete agreements yet.
playWii.de: Do you plan to be present at bigger tradeshows this year like the Games Convention or even E3 in order not only to present the game but also to socialize with publishers?
Lena Marguc: This definitely is a possibility.
playWii.de: Since the announcement of the Wii, there were two other young developers in the headlines: Nibris and Crossbeam Studios. How do you judge your colleagues and is it hard to gain ground as an indie developer? Are you supported from Nintendo for instance?
Lena Marguc: It is a bit hard if you don’t have a big publisher backing up. We don’t know the actual situation over at Nibris and Crossbeam, as for ourselves, we don’t have any palpable from Nintendo’s side.
playWii.de: Is there anything left you would like to tell our readers for conclusion?
Lena Marguc: We hope and think that we won’t disappoint the high expectations. And that we soon will be able to tell more details.Fonte: http://www.playwii.de/wii/articles,id98,2,interview_pollen_sonata.html

Bom, como a maioria dos projectos Indie:
“It looks like the dream of a danish Wii-game from us has ended for the time being. I have left the project, and those who are still left won’t make the game now. I really doubt there will ever come anything out of it, but it’s not impossible.”Fonte: http://www.spiludvikling.dk/viewtopic.php?p=19835&sid=ca684249845b47ef5f7f2ec325dd382d#19835

Infelizmente já se previa, desde que se soube quem estava por detrás do projecto e com que objectivo. É pena, mas pode ser que alguém se possa inspirar no jogo.
