Putting lingering questions about update timing to rest, Microsoft has announced that the new version of Office for Mac will arrive in the second half of this year.
Office 2008 for Mac, as the product is being dubbed, is a universal binary, the company said on Tuesday. That means the software runs both on Macs with Intel chips and on those with PowerPC chips. In addition, it is compatible with the new XML file formats used by Office 2007 for Windows, which hits retail shelves this month.

Microsoft didn't announce pricing for the suite, but Jones said it will be "roughly similar" to current versions of Office for Mac. The standard version of Office 2004 for Mac sells for US$399, though Apple is promoting a US$100 rebate on its Web site for those who buy by January 16. The Student and Teacher edition sells for US$149, with a US$15 rebate currently offered

Bem, vamos lá a ver quando sai... (espero ter licença de estudante :)). Parece mesmo o Office 2007...
De qualquer modo, por agora o Pages funciona muito bem. Uso o LaTeXit para as equações, e gráficos vai com o Grapher! :D

SOFTWARE giant Microsoft has said that it will release the newest version of Office for Mac OS X, but is not sure when.

With the Windows version out soon, one would expect the Apple version to follow only a few weeks later but officially the Vole says it will arrive "in the second half of 2007" but then again so is Christmas.
A spokesVole told BetaNews that Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac would be compatible with both the PowerPC and Intel platforms. It will also manage Open XML document format.
Like other Mac versions of Office, Office 2008 will have features that are unique to the Mac. There will be a Publishing Layout View with tools and text box entry. Excel gets Ledger Sheets, to simplify basic accounting tasks and there will be a program called "My Day" to allow for the user to view scheduling and task viewing. Para quem tem uma versão mais antiga do Office, a actualização é gratuita? Se não for, suponho que haja um desconto, não?

Só se for o 2004. Versões anteriores não acredito muito...

O visual está muito bom apesar de não ser muito Machish. Está bastante organizado e os templates já fazem concorrência com os do Pages :P

não fosse o facto de ter de usar uns templates feitos em Word, nem o Office tinha instalado.
bendito o dia em que me obrigaram a fazer relatórios em LaTeX...

LaTeX é muito bom... é pena que eu não o consiga personalizar como quero, mas isso é culpa do utilizador, não do software!
De qualquer modo, as equações mais bem apresentadas de todos os relatórios que já entreguei foram aquelas feitas em TeX :).
