We have discussed about the performance and mainstream Yorkfield and Wolfdale (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4184) processors (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4208#) from Intel and compared to the AMD offerings; Altair and Antares for year 2007. Now we will tell you more about the value offerings from Intel and AMD (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4208#) for next year. As previously reported, Intel will release native 2MB L2 cache (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4189) Conroe early next year to cut costs and better position against 65nm AMD Brisbane processors. Intel will also introduce Conroe-L "Pentium" and Conroe-L "Celeron" in Q2 next year to compete against AMD Sparta processors within the value segment. By end of next year, 45nm Wolfdale-L will succeed Conroe-L in the value segment featuring 800FSB and 1MB L2 cache (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4208#). Wolfdale-L is one cool chip with TDP touching a mere 35W but clock speed hitting as high as 3GHz. AMD might have some problems challenging Intel in the value space next year.
